About Us

Joe Ireland is the Founder and CEO of JEI Investment Management LLC. An avid investor, Mr. Ireland bought his first stock, Starbucks, at age fifteen. Before founding JEI Investment Management, Mr. Ireland worked at RBC Capital Markets, where he wrote a daily investment letter and serviced institutional investors in Los Angeles. Over the years, Mr. Ireland has developed a disciplined framework for investing in stocks that trade at a discount to their fundamental value, based on a methodology he calls free cash flow growth at a reasonable price (FCF GARP). Mr. Ireland is applying this approach in managing funds on behalf of JEI Investment Management, including the JEI Legacy Fund LP which launched on May 1st 2018 and the JEI Opportunity Fund LP which launched on January 1st 2024. Mr. Ireland received a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Southern California, and is a CFA Charterholder.

I founded JEI Investment Management in 2013 to implement a disciplined framework for investing my family’s wealth in a portfolio of stocks that trade at a discount to their fundamental value based on identifying companies facing end-market cyclical troughs combined with internal company “turn-around” catalysts. I created this framework based on my father’s investment methodology that he used effectively during his 40-year career at American Funds / Capital Group. I received a B.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Southern California and am a CFA Charterholder. In my personal time, I live in San Diego with my wife and 3 young kids, and I am an avid exerciser and college sports fan. I am also on the board of the Autism Society of America and the Autism Society of San Diego.
